GREAT MOMENTS IN HISTORY
The Incredible Hulk #163: As the Hulk falls through a layer
of ice, he finds a hidden city underneath. From inside the city,
the Gremlin looks on and tells the general standing next to him
that they will not have to capture the Hulk by force. The general
mentions luck but the Gremlin replies that his genius has allowed
it to happen. He tells how he designed the Super-Trooper exo-skeleton
and that it was him who decided that the Hulk was needed for further
research. The general thinks to himself that he hates to have to
take orders from a freakish child. The Gremlin sends his Super-Troopers
to go out and catpure the Hulk but the Hulk starts to make short
work of them until the Gremlin tells them to use gas. The soldiers
release gas and manage to knock out the Hulk. When the air force,
who was chasing the Hulk, come back around, the Gremlin uses a null
ray to suspend them in the air. General Ross, in a jet, comes to
help but gets caught by the null ray also. The Super-Troopers go
out and Ross and the other soldiers. The Hulk wakes up strapped
to a table and the Gremlin boosts that it was he who captured the
Hulk. The Hulk isn't too happy about that. The Gremlin then tells
how the Hulk killed his father, at least that is what the Russians
told him. The Gremlin was born shortly after the Gargoyle's
death with the same mutant features and advanced brain and he vowed
vengance. The arrival of the Hulk allows the Gremlin to do testing
to help improve his exo-skeletons so he subjects the Hulk to numerous
tests, controlling him through gas treatments. During one test,
the Grelim douses the Hulk was too much gas and causes him to revert
back to Bruce Banner. The Gremlin gets mad and has guards take Bruce
away. The Gremlin decides to learn moer about the gamma radiation
in the Hulk's blood but it is easier to study Bruce than the Hulk
but before anything can happen, Bruce attacks the guards and turns
into the Hulk. Having not been subjected to the gas, the Hulk breaks
free. The Super-Troopers attack again and when they try the gas
trick, the Hulk holds his breathe and escapes out of the base and
to freedom.
The Incredible Hulk #187: The Gremlin watches on the video
monitor from the Bitterfront base as his drones appear to destroy
the ship carrying General Ross who was coming to rescue Major Talbot
who was being held prisoner at the base. The Gremlin sends out drones
to attack the ship and watches as they appearently destroy the ship
carrying Ross before the transmission goes out. During the attack,
Bruce Banner, who was hiding on the ship, is dropped along with
the weapons bod, but he turns into the Hulk before he lands. The
ship was really okay and lands in secret. They sneak into the base
undetcted. The Gremlin sees the Hulk coming towards the base and
orders his men not to let the Hulk enter the base alive. The Hulk
gets mad that these people are firing at him for no reason and he
manages to take out the first line of defense and break his way
into the base. The Gremlin orders the super-Troopers to attack next.
When the Hulk starts to get the upperhand, the Gremlin orders them
to use the Electro-stasis rifles. They hit the Hulk and manage to
knock him out.
The Incredible Hulk #188: The Gremlin holds the Hulk unconscious
with an eletro-statis beam. He takes the Hulk along with the captured
General Ross, Clay Quartermain, and the other men to show them his
lab. He tells them how he finished his father's work, namely the
Psi-cline where you can transfer a conscious mind from one body
to another. He tells how he used the machine to transfer Talbot's
mind into another body made to look like his and that the Russians
mind from the other body was now in Glenn's. He then sends the soldiers
to a detention cell. The Gremlin takes the Hulk and hooks him up
to the Psi-clone machinie. Since he couldn't control the Hulk the
last time, he figures he can transfer his mind into the Hulk's body
and control it himself. He tries the equipment but nothing happens,
supposedly because the Hulk's mind is too primitive for the machine
to work. He gets mad and decides to try the equipment on Ross or
one of the soldiers. Clay mocks the Gremlin for not being able to
beat an unconscious Hulk. The Gremlin gets mad and says he will
not come back until the Hulk is his servant. In the cell, Clay uses
a bomb planted underneath his fingernail, based on the designs of
the Gargoyle ironically, to break out
of the cell. Back at the lab, the Gremlin was getting frustrated
with how long it would take to reprogram the machine to be able
to work on the Hulk. General Ross, Clay and the other soldiers manage
to overpower the Russian soldiers and take the Gremlin captive.
General Ross lets the Hulk out of the statis so that he can help
them escape. They take the Gremlin, who tells them they will not
get away with this, and start to leave when they come upon soldiers.
The Gremlin then calls his bed Droog to come and attack. Droog being
a giant mutated creature. The intelligent creature attacks the Hulk
while the Gremlin escapes. Before escaping, the Gremlin shoots a
cerebro-ray at Glenn and erases the mind of the Russian that was
in it.
