GREAT MOMENTS IN HISTORY
The Incredible Hulk #140: Psyklop
shrinks down the Hulk for further study but the Avengers interrupt
him and the Hulk keeps shrinking. He keeps shrinking until he makes
it to the sub-atomic planet of K'ai. The Hulk looks around, not
knowing where he is when a warthos attacks him. The Hulk kills the
beast and jumps off until he makes it to a city and sees more warthos
animals attacking it. He attacks them and drives them off. The people
of the city come out and bring him into the city, cheering him although
the Hulk can't understand what they are saying. Jarella comes out
and tells the Hulk they are grateful. She sees the gentle soul within
the Hulk. She tells her people that the queen must marry someone
who has proven themselves in battle with the warthos so therefore
she will take the Hulk as her husband and sovereign of the land.
The sorcerors that serve Jarella say a chant around the Hulk which
causes Bruce's conscious be in control of the Hulk's body. Bruce
adjusts quickly to his new world. Jarella asks Bruce if he misses
his own world. Bruce says yes but that he would be proud to be her
husband and protector. Lord Visis plans on killing the Hulk and
Jarella to gain control. His soldiers attack the Hulk but he easily
defeats them and forces them to tell him who put them up to the
assassination attempt. The Hulk exiles the Visis to the haunted
outlands. The Hulk then announces to the crowd of cheering people
that the next day he will officially marry Jarella. At that point,
a large Psyklop reaches into the building
and grabs the Hulk and takes him away. Jarella cries out to her
love and just watches as he goes away. When the Hulk makes it back
to earth, the Hulk's personna takes back over and he defeats Psyklop.
He barely remembers his time with Jarella.
The Incredible Hulk #148: While riding through the forests
of K'ai, Jarella and her soldiers are attacked by Visis's renegade
warriors. She barely defeats them, her heart still broken from losing
Bruce. She goes to the chief sorceror and asks if there is anyway
he could find out where Bruce is. He says that he could call a gathering
of the pantheon of sorcerors but a conjuring could affect the cosmos.
The sorcers send Jarella off to find the Hulk but warn her that
there might be consequences. Unbeknownst to her, Lord Visis uses
magic to send an assassin after her. Bruce, who was changed back
from the Hulk with the help of solar energy, is relaxing on the
beach when Jarella appears. He instantly recognizes her and remembers
his time there as Jarella recognizes him also even though he is
in human form. The assassin is also nearby and is about to strike
when Major Talbot arrives by helicopter to get Bruce. Jarella goes
along with them. Scientists tell Bruce that Jarella's voyage has
caused a time-space fissure and will cause the sun to go supernova.
The governments plan is to take a Life Model Decoy of Jarella and
send it back to K'ai so that everything will be restored back to
normal. The assassin sneaks into the base and attacks Bruce and
Jarella. Bruce reverses the solar process and changes back into
the Hulk. The Hulk finds Jarella and remembers that she loves him
when the assassin fires and hits some equipment causing it to explode.
The Hulk stumbles out of the blast and kills the assassin for killing
Jarella. But then Jarella comes up and says that it was the LMD
which died. The scientists say that Jarella must be sent back to
her own world before the sun explodes since the LMD was destroyed.
The Hulk stands ready to fight them to prevent them from sending
Jarella back but soldiers hit the Hulk with tranquilizer guns and
knock him out before he knows what happens. Jarella knows she must
go back to be the queen to her people so she leaves the Hulk who
is still unconscious.
The Incredible Hulk #156: The Hulk shrinks again to the
homeworld of Jarella. The Hulk has Bruce's brain so he realizes
that he is back on the planet because the spell is still in effect.
Bruce decides to stay there forever and heads off to find Jarella.
He finds the city in ruins and is then attacked by warriors. He
easily defeats them and then runs into Jarella's sorcerors. They
tell Bruce that the banished Visis has been attacking the city and
has taken Jarella hostage. At the stronghold of Visis, he tells
Jarella that unless she agrees to marry him, he will kill her hostage
subjects. She agrees. The Hulk attacks a pack of warthos and goes
after the leader of the pack. He leads them to Visis's stronghold
and causes confusion as he rescues Jarella. As the days follow,
the return of the Hulk tips the scale as the Hulk and Jarella win
battle after battle. Before the final battle, Visis takes a ship
to the isle of assassins where people use technology instead of
magic. Visis meets the ruler of the island who shows him a machine
that brings a person's fear to life. The morning before the battle,
Visis offers Jarella an offer: her champion versus his. The Hulk
agrees, so that lives may be spared. The Hulk goes to the stronghold
and is hit with the equipment which causes the savage Hulk to appear.
Bruce, shaken by what he sees, is beaten by the savage Hulk. Jarella,
seeing what is happening, has the sorcerors remove the spell that
allows Bruce to be in control. When that happens, the imaginary
Hulk disappears. Visis kills the assassins for failing him. The
Hulk jumps at the stronghold but he starts to grow and a very large
Hulk hits the building. Jarella runs to the Hulk, seeing him continue
to grow. The Hulk sees her also and is sad that he loses her again.
As he grows large, he accidently hits the planet, sending it out
of it's orbit.
The Incredible Hulk #202: The Hulk shrinks to the planet
of K'ai again and runs right into a couple of warthoses. He makes
it to a clearing where he sees Jarella being shot from a catapult.
The Hulk jumps and saves her. A wizard says that the god of the
mountain will be angry unless Jarella is killed. The Hulk hits the
ground and knocks the warriors out. Just then, the earth shakes
as Jarella tells the Hulk that her world has been plagued with earthquakes
since he left the last time. The Hulk pulls the land together to
save the people, at Jarella's request. They jump away where Jarella
tells the Hulk that she loves him. Another tremer hits and Jarella
tells the Hulk that people thought that Jarella brought the earthquakes
due to her loving an out-worlder. The same people thought that sacraficing
Jarella to the god of the mountain would make everything better.
The Hulk decides to go stop this god and Jarella goes along with
him. They climb the high mountain until they reach a large castle.
They go inside the castle and see a large green giant. The Hulk
fights the giant and then realizes that it is a robot. He beats
the robot and walks into another room where he is shot and knocked
unconscious. Jarella sees Psyklop standing
over the Hulk, boasting how he constructed the robot.
The Incredible Hulk #203: The Hulk breaks out of restraints
and is about to attack Psyklop when Psyklop
hits him with a hypnotizing ray from his eye. He explains to Jarella
how after his defeat by the Hulk, he was banished to the planet
K'ai. He saw as the Hulk came back again and watched as the Hulk
grew and knocked the planet from it's orbit. he tells her that it
was this that originally started the earthquakes. By Psyklop
created a machine to continue the earthquakes so that the people
will worship him. Jarella's sorceror's see what happens and rally
the people to go save her. Psyklop also
shows Jarella a urn which collects the life-forces from all the
people that die from his earthquakes. Psyklop
sees the people coming so he sends the Hulk after them making him
think it is an army of Psyklops. The
sorcerors chant and break the spell. The Hulk, really mad now, goes
after Psyklop. One of the Hulk's shockwaves
cracks the urn which explodes and envelopes Psyklop
and kills him. The people rejoice and Jarella and the Hulk decide
to marry. Before they can do that, the Hulk and Jarella grow and
both make it back to earth. Jarella says that she must go back home
alone to help rebuild her world but unforunately she cannot go back
because the Hulk broke the slide that Jarella's world was located
on.
The Incredible Hulk #204: Bruce tells Jarella that he is
going to try an experiment to get rid of the Hulk persona. He worries
that if he gets rid of the Hulk, he might lose Jarella. She tells
him that she will love him no matter what he looks live.
The Incredible Hulk #205: Bruce and Jarella are walking
down the street when some guys say cat-calls to Jarella. Bruce manages
to stay calm and they walk on. Bruce shows Jarella all the wonders
on this new world she has been placed on. A man controlling the
Crypto-Man has the robot rob a bank and during it sees Jarella.
He figures that she must have powers similar to the Hulk so he plans
on siphoning off her power into the Crypto-Man. Bruce turns into
the Hulk and fights the robot, to protect Jarella. During the battle,
a chunk of a building falls towards a boy. Jarella pushes the boy
away and lands under the rubble. The Hulk sees it and tries to dig
Jarella out. The Hulk, really really mad, defeats the Crypto-Man.
He digs Jarella free and she just asks to be held. She tells the
Hulk that it is better this way because she did not belong on this
world and that they will meet again. The Hulk grabs the unconscious
Jarella and jumps to Gamma Base. The doctors are not able to help
her and she dies. The Hulk gets mad and jumps off.
The Incredible Hulk #240: A disguised Tyrannus shows the
Hulk an image of a room at the Gamma Base where Jarella's body is
being held in a tube. The Hulk is confused. Tyrannus tells the Hulk
that they are experimenting on her.
The Incredible Hulk #246: The Hulk smashes his way through
Gamma Base and finds Jarella's body being preserved in a stasis
tube. He breaks her out and holds her dead body, remembering their
time together. The Hulk starts to cry because all Jarella wanted
was to go back home and Earth killed her. He says that even if he
can't bring her back to life, he can at least take her back home.
Captain Marvel, sensing the Hulk's grief, puts his hand on the Hulk
shoulder to say that he will help him. The Hulk takes it as an intrusion
and the two fight. Captain Marvel uses his powers to merge their
minds on a cosmic plane to show the Hulk he really does want to
help him. The Hulk lifts Jarella's body and follows Captain Marvel
further into Gamma Base. They go to where the submolecular equipment
and Captain Marvel uses his cosmic awareness to figure out how to
use the equipment. Captain Marvel shrinks the Hulk and Jarella down.
The Incredible Hulk #247: The Hulk stops shrinking to find
himself on a planet of rocks. At first he thinks he is on the wrong
planet but he instintively knows it is the planet of K'ai. He takes
Jarella's body and goes to find out what happened. He stumbles upon
a large dragon-like creature attacking some of Jarella's people.
He beats the dragon and the people come out to thank him, even though
he can't understand what they are saying. He jumps back onto the
cliff where he was before and shows them Jarella's body. The Pantheon
of Sorcerors casts a spell so that the Hulk can understand the language.
They are not powerful enough to bring Bruce's control back. They
tell the Hulk that when he broke the slide that K'ai was on, it
sent the world spinning and created geological upheavals. Few plants
or vegatation grew due to being farther from the sun. The Hulk promises
to aid them and the sorcerors say that first that Jarella must be
buried in the Valley of Life. The walk to a lush land filled with
tress and animals. They explain that they are only allowed to bury
people there, anybody who goes in to live, never comes back alive.
The Hulk says that he will take Jarella in there to bury and alos
bring back food for the people. The people worry for the Hulk's
safety. The Hulk starts to tear up the ground to bury Jarella when
the trees, animals and insects attack the Hulk, but they leave Jarella's
body alone. He defeats them all and starts back to the job of burying
Jarella when the Gardener arrives and says that he will be the only
living human to be able to stay in the Valley of Life.
The Incredible Hulk #248: The Gardener holds the Hulk in
vine restraints and tells the Hulk that Jarella will be laid to
rest and animals take her body away. The Hulk gets agitated so the
Gardener uses his Soul Gem and allows Bruce to be in control. The
Gardener tells Bruce his story and then says that he must leave
the valley. Bruce calms down enough that he actually reverts back
to human form. Bruce loves Jarella so much that he decides to go
back into the jungle and find Jarella. Meanwhile, the people of
K'ai wait outside the Valley of Life when the animals suddenly come
charging out. Bruce stops for a drink of water when the water attacks
him. He becomes the Hulk and tracks down the Gardener whose animals
are still carrying Jarella's body to be buried. The Gardener sends
the animals after the Hulk and he easily defeats them. The people
of K'ai see evidence of the Hulk's fight and it inspires them to
fight on. The Hulk and Gardener go one on one and the Hulk defeats
him. He takes the Soul Gem and sends it into the core of the planet.
The animals become docile and plant life grows all over the planet.
The Hulk takes Jarella's body and buries her finally. A green flower
immediately grows up from the grave, a final way of saying good-bye
to the Hulk. The Gardener touches the Hulk and causes him to grow
and leave the planet of K'ai once again.
