The Incredible Hulk #131: Jim Wilson is seen grabbing a woman's purse and running away as she calls him "thief." He goes to a burned-out tenement and talks to himself how he just couldn't go through with it and left the purse where the woman could find it. He mentions that he is living in the same house where his parents died in. Suddenly the Hulk sneaks up on him and says that he can not let Jim get away to tell his enemies where he is hiding at. Jim says that he won't tell anybody where the Hulk is. The Hulk than asks Jim to help him find Bruce Banner so that he can crush him. Jim agress to help him. Jim then gives the Hulk his last candybar to eat and the kind gesture makes the Hulk trust Jim. Later, Jim slips onto the base and sees Bruce through a window decides against leading Bruce to the Hulk. Jim gets caught by a guard who leads him into the room with Bruce, General Ross, and Betty Ross. Jim says he knows where the Hulk is and why he was there. Jim thinks that Bruce could find a way to get the Hulk without hurting him so he volunteers to help them even though he is unsure of going against the Hulk, another person no one gave a chance to. Jim goes back to the building and leads the Hulk out the front, saying the coast is clear. Suddenly a truck opens to reveal Iron Man on a large weapon. The Hulk, angry that Jim betrayed him, grabs him and is about to hurt him when Iron attacks the Hulk, knocking Jim free. The Incredible Hulk #132: Jim Wilson tells General Ross that he is leaving the base, that he doesn't like to be around uniforms. General Ross tries to convince him to stay but can't. The real reason Jim leaves though is that he feels bad about betraying the Hulk. General Ross tells Major Talbot to follow Jim since the Hulk seems to trust him. Jim notices Talbot following him. He makes a run for it and jumps over a fence to see a strange looking ship. A voice calls out to Jim to enter the ship so that he will not be followed, so Jim does. The ship takes off to a ship filled with Hydra. Hydra tells Jim they brought him there to help free the Hulk from the army. To convince Jim to help them, they show him footage of the army attacking the Hulk with various weapons. Jim heads back and goes onto base to tell General Ross he is just there to visit the Hulk. He goes in and opens up a vent to the roof. He leaves and goes back to the Hydra ship where the lower down and take the Hulk. With the unconscious Hulk safely on the ship, the head Hydra tells that they will brainwash the Hulk and use him to take power. Jim, realizing he's been duped, goes after the head Hydra but guards stop him and hit him. The Hulk wakes up to see this and realizing Jim was going to help him, smashed out of the restrains and attacks the Hydra soldiers. The soldiers shot at the Hulk and some of it deflects off the Hulk's skin and hits Jim. The Hulk notices Jim is hurt and gets extremely mad. He breaks a hole in the side of the ship, grabs Jim and jumps away. The Hulk stands over the wounded Jim in the woods and says that if Jim dies, he will smash the whole world.

The Incredible Hulk #133: The Hulk stands before a lake, holding the injured Jim and feeling helpless that he can't help his friend. Suddenly he sees multiple ships in the air above him. General Ross steps out from behind some rocks and says that they are only there to help save Jim and help the Hulk. The Hulk does not trust him and is about to hit him when Jim regains consciousness and telss the Hulk to trust the General. The Hulk allows the military to take Jim away

The Incredible Hulk #136: General Ross tells Bruce how Jim is recovering nicely at the same hospital as Betty Ross and is learning to play chess.

The Incredible Hulk #138: Jim sits on the outside grounds of the hospital, talking about how he is going to leave the next day when Bruce sneaks up no him. Jim shows Bruce where Betty's room is at.

The Incredible Hulk #139: Jim is confronted by an officer when he is caught sitting on some military weapons on the hospital grounds. Jim and the soldier talk and come to an understanding. Later, while the military tracks the Hulk, who is being tricked by the Leader into thinking he is fighting various villians and heroes, Jim goes after him when they realize he is getting close to the hospital where Betty Ross has been turned to glass. He finds an entrance to where the Leader is and starts to pull wires from equipment, causing the machine the Leader is using to backfire on his own mind.

The Incredible Hulk #148: While overlooking the construction of the Hulkbuster Base with General Ross, Betty Ross, and Doc Samson, Jim decides it is time for him to leave so General Ross assigns a soldier to drive him. When Jim notices the soldier going over the speed limit, he mentions it and the soldier pulls a strange looking gun and tells Jim not to speak. Jim pulls a briefcase up just in time as the blast from the gun hits the briefcase and ricochets back and hits the soldier in the head. The car drives over the side of the road and Jim just barely manages to jump out. He slides down the hill to try and help the soldier from the car wreckage when he discovers that the soldier was really a robot. He goes back to the base and tells General Ross who tells him he will find out what happened. As Jim leaves, he realizes that General Ross was the one who assigned that soldier to drive him so he sneaks back onto the base. In a room, he finds robots of the President and Vice-President of the US. He runs to tell somebody and runs into Major Talbot. Jim shows him the bodies and Major Talbot says it is just part of the plan and then reveals himself to actually be the Leader. The General Ross robot captures Jim and throws him in a room with the other captured people on the base.

The Incredible Hulk #157: Jim is invited to the wedding of Betty Ross and Major Talbot. Jim likes Major Talbot but doesn't think that Betty should marry him so instead of putting a damper on anything, Jim excuses himself from attending the wedding. He hitches a ride on a military flight to New Jersey. While in New Jersey, he gets stuck in a traffic jam and gets out of the taxi to see what is happening when he finds out it is the Hulk. He runs over to the Hulk and reminds him who he is. He leads the Hulk away before the police show up. The Hulk turns back into Bruce Banner and Jim tells him about the upcoming wedding of Betty and Major Talbot. Suddenly the Rhino appears with the mind of Leader controlling him. He threatens to hurt Betty at the wedding. Jim, knowing that the Leader is just setting Bruce up, makes a run for a phone to get help. The Leader/Rhino hits Jim. Bruce sees this and gets mad and turns into the Hulk. The two fight until the Leader/Rhino gets into a ship and starts to fly away. Jim regains consciousness and yells to the Hulk that he is okay and not to follow him but the Hulk does not hear Jim and leaps away in pursuit.

The Incredible Hulk #167: Jim finds the Hulk in some marshes, having heard that he was there on the news. He tells the Hulk that he came looking for the Hulk to help him. Jim manages to calm the Hulk and revert back to Bruce Banner. Jim gives Bruce a bag of clothes to change into and tells him that Betty needs him.

The Incredible Hulk #168: As the Hulk is chased at the hospital by police, Jim drives up in a truck he borrowed from his girlfriend's father, he tells the Hulk to climb in back. The Hulk hides under a tarp and they manage to get past a police blockade since they don't think to look under the tarp. Jim takes the Hulk back to his girlfriend's house to hide out. His girlfriend freaks out when she sees the Hulk and says that he can't stay there. She then talks to Jim about settling down and getting married. The Hulk realizes she doesn't like him, so he just wanders away as Jim and his girlfriend continue to fight.

The Incredible Hulk #171: Jim convinces his girlfriend Talia to go with him from New Jersey to New Mexico to visit General Ross and Betty. They get stopped before they make it to the base by a blockade, not knowing that the Abomination and Rhino have taken the base over. Jim turns the car around and heads back the way he came. They sneak on the base and manage to find the Hulk. Jim tells the Hulk that he was worried about him since he walked off. The Hulk tells them what he knows about what is happening on the base. Jim somehow convinces Talia to be a decoy to lure the Abomination and Rhino outside so the Hulk can attack them. Jim sneaks into the base and manages to make contact with General Ross and the others, who are being held captive in a room. Jim asks how he can help get them free but General Ross tells him to first find the Gamma Bomb and diffuse it before it goes off. General Ross gives Jim directions to find the bomb and then gives him the access code and how to diffuse the bomb. Jim makes it just in time. Jim is there as General Ross is shaking the Hulk's hand for helping save him when Colonel Armbruster captures the Hulk.

The Incredible Hulk #172: General Ross feels bad about not helping the Hulk but Jim tells him it was not his fault.

The Incredible Hulk #208: Jim is cornered in an alley by two thuggs. He manages to knock them both out and starts to run, wondering why he ever got involved with something. Before he finishes his sentence, he sees a newspaper heading about the Hulk in New York City.

The Incredible Hulk #211: Jim hitches a ride with a trucker who drops him off in New York City. Unbeknownst to Jim, as soon as he leaves the truck, the trucker radios the Constrictor and tells him where he dropped Jim off

The Incredible Hulk #212: Jim is wondering how he is going to find the Hulk in the city when another thug comes up and attacks him from behind. He manages to get away by stowing on a truck that drives by and the thug gets nervous because he let Jim get away. The Contrictor snags the thug and is about to kill him when the thug tells him that he placed a tracer on Jim before he escaped. Jim takes various routes to make sure no one is following him and then goes to a phone booth. He asks the operator for all types of variations of Robert Bruce Banner until he finally manages to track Bruce down. Jim tells Bruce he needs his help and gives the address he is at but is then cut-off. The Contrictor uses his coils and breaks the phone booth. He tells Jim that he is there to kill him because Jim has been causing problems for his employer on the West Coast. Jim manages to run off a little but is eventually caught by the Constrictor. The Contrictor puts Jim in a car and starts to drive away when Bruce, who tracked Jim to the address he gave him over the phone, turns into the Hulk and stops the car. He recognizes Jim in the car and pulls him free. He sets Jim down and starts to fight the Constrictor. When the Constrictor manages to hold Jim by the neck and threaten to break it, the Hulk hits the ground and tricks the Contrictor into hitting electrical lines, defeating him. Jim and the Hulk walk away together.

The Incredible Hulk #213: Jim is standing behind the Hulk as police fire on him. He stops the Hulk from killing one of the policeman who doesn't run like the rest of the officers. Jim is standing by the Hulk when they both see a mechanical robot controlled by five men step out of a truck. During the battle, the retro rockets on the feet of the robot fire on the Hulk as Jim tells them to stop before they kill the Hulk. Jim sees the Hulk standing waist-high in melted tar/road. The Hulk is knocked unconscious and the police put him in the back of a truck and take Jim with them in the front. Jim grabs the wheel while they are driving and causes the truck to crash and allowing the Hulk to escape from the truck and defeat the robot. The Hulk grabs Jim and jumps away.

The Incredible Hulk #214: The Hulk lands in a back alley with Jim and smashes a trash can, saying that he has taken more than enough from people. Jim calms him down and the Hulk reverts to Bruce Banner. Bruce is glad to see Jim and they walk off towards Bruce's house. They get to Bruce's apartment and find someone in it. Jim jumps on the person who they assume is a thief. They find out it is Kropotkin the Great, a magician who used to to be the tenant of the room Bruce is staying at but skipped out on paying the rent. April comes in and wants to throw Kropotkin out but ends up getting into an argument with Bruce, who can feel the change starting to occur. Jim, seeing what is about to happen, pushes April and Kropotkin out of the room but it is too late as Jim watches Bruce jump out of the window and land as the Hulk below and jump away.

The Incredible Hulk #215: While the Hulk walks along the waterfront, Jim appears and finds a depressed Hulk who then turns into Bruce. Jim brought a change of clothes for Bruce to get into and they walk away together. They walk back to Bruce's apartment to find April and Kropotkin arguing. Suddenly a ray comes out of the sky and pulls Bruce up into it, leaving a very shocked Jim, April , and Kropotkin.

The Incredible Hulk #221: Bruce comes back to his apartment after being away for awhile and Jim is happy to see him. Jim admits to Bruce that he told April who Bruce really is after he was pulled into the sky and didn't come back. They go down together to try and calm April's nerves a little over who is living in her building. Suddenly a man arrives and tells Bruce he has to turn himself into the authorities. Bruce of course refuses and the two men scuffle. The man reveals himself to be Sting-Ray and when he tries to get a blast at Bruce, Jim jumps in the way and gets hit. Bruce sees it and turns into the Hulk immediately and attacks Sting-Ray. The Hulk defeats Sting-Ray and right before he hits him one last time, Jim tells the Hulk that he is okay. The Hulk tells Jim that he will make sure Sting-Ray will not hurt him again. Jim tells the Hulk not to kill Sting-Ray because that will make things worse. Hulk is tired of hearing people tell him not to do anything so he gets mad and jumps away. Jim goes down to see if Sting-Ray is okay.

The Incredible Hulk #223: Jim offers to help April pay for the busted door until he hears how much it is going to cost. Jim and April are both surprised when Kropotkin pays for the whole thing. He tells Jim he got that money and more playing games of chance. April takes the rest of the money as payment for past due rent. Kropotkin asks Jim is her has any plans for the future and when Jim replies no, Kropotkin starts to tell him a proposition.

The Incredible Hulk #225: As Jim and Kropotkin drive in his van towards New Mexico, Kropotkin asks Jim is he has been silent because he has had second thoughts about their venture. Jim replies that he still thinks the whole thing is crazy. He wonders to himself if it will ever be safe to go back to LA. Jim looks at the map and tells Kropotkin that they are nearing Lynneburg but Kropotkin had a run-in with the law there so he decides to take a detour.

The Incredible Hulk #226: While waiting for Kropotkin to finish eating his clamburger in their van at a roadside restaurant in New Mexico, Jim overhears a Hulk alert from a police car parked next to them. As the police car speeds off, Jim turns on the police band in the van and hears where the Hulk is heading so they head off in that direction also. Jim arrives on the site of Desert State University where the Hulk is confronting one of Bruce's old professors. Jim runs up and tells the Hulk not to hurt the man. The Hulk, still feeling betrayed from before, grabs Jim and lifts him up. The professor tries to help Jim and the Hulk swats him away whereas the professor feels his chest hurting. Jim asks the Hulk if he is proud for hurting an old man. The Hulk drops Jim and stomps away.

The Incredible Hulk #227: Jim goes to Gamma Base and observes while Doc Samson tries to use psychiatry on the Hulk.

The Incredible Hulk #228: Jim watches as Doc Samson puts the Hulk through some physical tests. The Hulk causes the whole test lab to come crashing down and when the Hulk digs himself out, he starts to threaten Doc Samson that if Jim is hurt, Doc Samson will pay. Jim thinks quick and tells the Hulk was a great job he did on the test. Later, Jim sits by the Hulk who is laying in a bed, and tells him he needs to get some sleep. Jim laughs as he leaves the room talking about how few warm beds the Hulk has been in. The Hulk sets off an alarm as he walks around the base at night and Jim along with everyone else rush to see what has happened.

The Incredible Hulk #229: Jim watches with everyone else as the Hulk seeming threatens Dr. Karla Sofen who unbeknownst to everyone else is really Moonstone and the two were fighting a few moments before. The Hulk releases Dr. Sofen and Jim congratulates the Hulk for letting her go without harming her.

The Incredible Hulk #231: Jim bursts into a meeting to tell Doc Samson where the Hulk has been spotted. A visiting Senator asks what kind of security they have if a kid can come crashing in. Doc Samson tells the Senator that without Jims help, they might not be able to calm the Hulk down. Another Senator offers to fly Jim to California in his airplane to get Jim to the Hulk and also to view the Hulk first hand. On the airplane, Jim is a little nervous and tells the Senator that he is not looking forward to seeing some folks in California. The Senator tells Jim the Corporation takes care of its own and hits Jim with knock-out gas. The Senator reveals to Dr. Sofen that he is a member of the illegal group known as the Corporation as is she.

Captain America #230: The Senator takes the now conscious but tied up Jim to another member of the Corporation and offers to trade Jim to him in return for a dead Captain America. The other Corporation member has been looking for Jim Wilson for a long time and was the one who sicked the Constrictor on him. A fight ensues and when Bruce turns into the Hulk, Jim yells for help. During the fighting, there is some confusion and the Hulk starts to fight Captain America and Jim tries to get the Hulk to stop.

The Incredible Hulk #232: Jim can't believe that the Senator is trying to trade him for the life of Captain America. When Moonstone shoots a blast at Captain America and he falls into some water, the Senator laughs so Jim kicks him even though he is tied up. The Senator backhands Jim in the face. Later, Captain America shields Jim as gunfire is aimed at him. Having been rescues, he tells the Falcon that he still can not believe that the Falcon is his Uncle.

The Incredible Hulk #279: As the Bruce Banner controlled Hulk is being celebrated, Jim stands out in the audience, showing his support for the Hulk without making his presence known.

The Incredible Hulk #388: Jim picks up Rick when he flies into Los Angeles. Jim thanks Rick for volunteering to play music for a fundraising event to help with the house Jim runs for people with AIDS. Rick asks Jim why he wanted the Hulk there also and Jim tells him there have been some death threats. Rick remarks that Jim is not dying with him there. Jim says at least not this year and reveals to Rick that he is HIV positive and has got AIDS. Jim takes Rick back to the house he runs and introduces him to one of the people staying there, Tyler. In his office, Jim tells Rick that Tyler's dad is a big mob boss and has already tried to send people to kill Tyler's companion but his uncle, the Falcon, was there to help. Tyler's father might send more people, so that's why the Hulk is there. Rick asks Jim why he never told him before that he was HIV positive and asks him how he can be so relaxed knowing he is going to die. Jim replies that he is not going to stop living until he stops living. Jim tells Rick that his girlfriend left as soon as she heard what he had. At the concert, everything is going fine until Speedfreek shows up to kill Tyler's companion. Jim tries to stop him and Speedfreek stabs him in the chest. Rick goes to see about Jim but is hesitant to touch him since Jim was bloody from the wound and Rick was worried about AIDS. After defeating Speedfreek, the Hulk comes and asks Rick why he is just standing there in front of the obviously wounded Jim. Rick tells the Hulk that Jim is HIV positive. The Hulk, knowing that the disease will not affect him due to his immune system, grabs Jim and jumps off to take him to a hospital.

The Incredible Hulk #420: Jim is at an AIDS rally late at night when someone hits him over the head from behind and causes a riot between two groups. The Hulk arrives and tells Jim that he has had his people at the Mount watching him and knew he was in trouble and notified the Hulk. The Hulk picks up the bleeding Jim and then turns to ask who hurt him. Everybody in the crowd runs away screaming. The Hulk takes him back to the Mount to get cared for where the doctor informs the Hulk that not only is Jim HIV positive but he has full blown AIDS and is close to dying. The Hulk asks the doctor if they can try and experimental drug on Jim to try and help him but the doctor refuses since it has not been approved for humans yet. Jim wakes up and asks the Hulk if he has any miracles for him. The Hulk mentions the drug but says that they can not use it on humans yet. Jim gets a little mad. Jim then asks the Hulk for a blood transfusion to save him and reminds him when he gave a transfusion to his cousin. Knowing that previous transfusion let to the creation of the She-Hulk, the Hulk asks Jim not to ask that of him but Jim says he is begging him. Later, the doctor and the Hulk come back and hook a blood bag up to Jim for a transfusion. The Hulk asks Jim why he didn't tell Rick before that he had AIDS besides HIV positive. Jim didn't think Rick could handle it. The Hulk reminds Jim that the transfusion is a longshot. The Hulk and Jim talk and the Hulk makes Jim laugh but then Jim starts to cough up blood. Jim, obviously very weak, tells the Hulk he can already feel it working. He than asks the Hulk if he can talk to the doctor in private for a minute. He thinks that the blood being transfused into him is not the Hulk's and he asks the doctor to confirm this and she does. Jim tells the doctor he knows why the Hulk didn't want to give him his blood and never should have asked him. He then asks the doctor not to tell the Hulk that he knew. The Hulk walks back in and Jim says that he is going to jump out of the bed any minute but is going to take a quick rest first and then Jim passes away.
