First Appearance:The Incredible Hulk #338

Powers/Abilities: Mercy is able to transport herself from one area to another with a thought. She is able to read a person's mind and has the power of levitation/flight. She can appear in reality and in a person's mind at the same time and also make a person see what she wants them to see in their mind. She can create spears of energy which can kill a person and is skilled at a number of fighting techniques. She is impervious to most conventional forms of harm such as bullets. She is able to duplicate a person in form and personality.

Origin: Besides the fact that Mercy is an alien from another planet not much is known about her origin except that she is her to kill people who she thinks are unhappy and need to move on to the next life but are unable to do it themselves.

GREAT MOMENTS IN HISTORY

The Incredible Hulk #338: A man is sitting in a bathtub wondering how he is going to come up with $20,000 to pay the IRS. Mercy appears and tells him she is his guardian angel and then proceeds to throw in the bathtub a radio plugged in to the wall, killing him. She then disappears again. During a dream, Bruce confronts the Grey Hulk and tells him they have to work together. Suddenly, Mercy appears and says that she is there to relieve them of his burden and shoots the Hulk, killing him but also killing Bruce at the same time. Bruce then wakes up in the car carrying him along with Rick Jones and Clay Quartermain. Later on, Bruce is standing behind the van when Mercy starts up the van and tries to run over him. Later, while at a hospital looking for Betty, Mercy appears as a nurse and throws scapels at Bruce. She misses and then disappears again. She reappears later when Bruce turns into the Hulk. She hits the Hulk with an energy spear, trying to kill him, at the same time appearing to Bruce in the Hulk's mind. Bruce decides not to give up which gives the Hulk the ability to survive the spear. He rips it out and hits Mercy with it, causing her to revert to her true from. She envelopes the Hulk and still tries to kill him but he steps into a fire, burning her off. Later, a truck driver pulls over to give Mercy a ride.

The Incredible Hulk Annual #16: Mercy shoves a homeless man into the path of an oncoming truck. Another homeless woman calls Mercy a murderer and tells her that people don't want to die just because they are sad about something. Mercy is curious about this and decides she needs to investigate more. She comes across the Lifeform, a man being mutated by a virus. The virus is fighting to take over as the man begs Mercy to kill him but then the virus part tries to exert control. She decides to try to make Lifeform happy so she transports him to where the Hulk is. The Lifeform immediately attacks the Hulk, considering him food. Mercy comes between them and says that they should be friends and should talk to each other. The Hulk mentions that talking is something Banner does but Banner isn't here. Mercy changes into a liquid form and goes into the Hulk's body, knocking him unconscious. The Hulk wakes up and finds himself laying next to Bruce. Each thinks the other is a duplicate made by Mercy. They argue with each other about life and death while the Lifeform looks on, having his own internal battle. The Hulk decides to kill Bruce, convinced he is a duplicate, but decides not to. Lifeform gets made and attacks them both. At one point, Lifeform grabs Bruce and throws him into a light, electricuting him. Thinking that Bruce is dead, the Hulk goes after Lifeform and sets him on fire, appearently killing him. Bruce comes back to life but before the Hulk can get to him, debris caves in on him. The Hulk goes of to wait for the sun to rise to see if he will die if he was the duplicate. Mercy shows up and tells him that she was Bruce so that he could talk with the Hulk. Mercy then disappears.

The Incredible Hulk #426: Mercy appears in the hospital where Doc Samson is looking after the Savage Hulk-in Bruce's body and also the injured Betty. Mercy appears before Bruce and asks what is the problem. He just grunts "Want Betty." Mercy thinks that this Betty person is causing Bruce miserable so she tells him that she will deal with her immediately. Mercy appears in Betty's mind while she is being operated on. Betty appears as a child in her own mind. Mercy tells Betty that she will take her to see her mother in Heaven if she wants her to. While going up, Betty spots the plane which is tranporting Bruce-Hulk by SHIELD. Bruce-Hulk sees the child Betty before him and he gets upset. Mercy says they should go but Betty decides to stay because Bruce needs her. Betty goes up to Bruce and says that if he swears to come back then she will come back also. Betty pulls through the operation. Bruce-Hulk breaks free of the guards and jumps off the plane while in flight. Before he lands, he manages to turn into the Professor and survives. Mercy appears and tells him that Betty decided to stay because of him and that she loved him more that she did herself.

The Incredible Hulk #458: While hiding on a flight, the Hulk feels guilty about hurting Rick and wants it all to end. Mercy arrives and reaches into his mind. The Hulk sees himself before a fire squad of some of his toughest enemies and tells them to go ahead and kill him. On the flight is also Mr Hyde, sent by the New World Order, to get the Hulk. Mr. Hyde goes to attack the Hulk, who is crumpled on the floor and sees Mercy. Mercy states that the Hulk is ready for Mr. Hyde to kill him. Hyde says that he does not want to kill the Hulk in this manner, it would take away from the feat. In the Hulk's mind, Mercy makes him see Hyde come and hit him and then threaten his wife and friends. In his mind, the Hulk fights back when he hears this and also fights back in reality. Mercy is mad that the Hulk changed him mind about dying and wasting her time and hits him with an energy beam. The Hulk turns and sees Mercy. Hyde and the Hulk still fight even though the Hulk is still fighting in him mind. Mercy realizes that the Hulk won't let himself die from a foe who he doesn't think is worthy. She lets him come back to reality. The Hulk throws Hyde out the plane and is forced to try to help the plane land.

The Incredible Hulk #459: Mercy leads the Hulk and the Abomination to cross paths so that the Abomination can finish off the Hulk. Mercy makes the Hulk see that Abomination as various stages of the Hulk from the his first appearance as the Grey Hulk to the savage Hulk and on. The Hulk refuses to give up and fights back and eventually defeats the Abomination. The Hulk, very weak from his fight with the Abomination and having been split from Bruce, sees Mercy hovering above him. He asks her what she is waiting for. She says she will not since it is now what he wants. She tells him it doesn't matter anymore because "they" are coming and that he will wish she finished him off when "they" come.
