GREAT MOMENTS IN HISTORY
The Incredible Hulk #167: MODOK is seen sitting at the center
of AIM, getting various reports from his agents. An agent from the
field reports in that he has spotted Betty Ross, General Ross, and
Colonel Armbruster at a nearby airport.
MODOK talks to himself that he has always been defeated in the past
because of his body so he has his men create a large mechanical
stucture to hold his head. He figures the only person who would
be able to defeat him once he is in his invincible suit is the Hulk
so he figures to destroy him first. He installs himself into the
robotic body and figures the only way to defeat the Hulk is to create
a stronger Hulk. He would need to get a person who has a tolerance
to gamma rays, namely Betty Ross. Later, at a hospital, the Hulk
visits Betty and she goes a little crazy and says she hates the
Hulk. A nurse/agent reports this to MODOK. That night, MODOK goes
to Betty's room in his robotic body. While she is sleeping, he uses
hypnotic powers and tells her that he can help her get revenge on
the Hulk. The Hulk spies this and attacks MODOK. The Hulk and MODOK
fight and eventually the Hulk destroys the body and MODOK manages
to fly away.
The Incredible Hulk #168: Betty leaves the hospital in the
middle of the night, due to the hypnotic trance from MODOK, and
enters a small rocket which sends her to MODOK. When she gets to
the AIM base, MODOK subjects her to the gamma ray transformer. The
gamma energies strike Betty and she forms a coccoon and emerges
as the Harpy. The Harpy
immediately asks for where Bruce Banner is and fires an energy blast
at MODOK. An agent comes in and tells MODOK that the Hulk has been
spotted in Manhattan. MODOK tells the Harpy
to go and destroy him.
The Incredible Hulk #169: The Bi-Beast
kidnaps the Hulk and Harpy and takes them
to his island in the sky and MODOK is able to track the Harpy
through the gamma radiation. MODOK is surprised to see the Bi-Beast
and says he is just there to retrieve the Hulk and Harpy.
The Bi-Beast tells MODOK that the Harpy
is his prisoner and that the Hulk has reverted to Bruce Banner and
is working on equipment on the island. MODOK convinces the Bi-Beast
that Bruce Banner will try to destroy the island, not help. The
Bi-Beast goes to find Bruce who turns
into the Hulk and they fight. MODOK comes in and shoot the Hulk
in the back and claims the floating island for AIM. His soldiers
fire on the Bi-Beast. The Bi-Beast,
mortally wounded, activates the self-destruct on the island and
MODOK and his men flee the island before it explodes.
Marvel Team-Up #104: Bruce takes a job aboard a ship to
make some money when he notices some strange things about it. Him
and another guy working on the ship also curious break into the
cargo section. They stumble upon a large amount of scientific equipment
and weapons and upon MODOK. He tells Bruce that he knew he was on
board and then stuns them. He tells his soldiers to keep Bruce sedated.
The ship goes to the Savage Land and MODOK uses Bruce as bait to
lure dinosaurs close. When the large dinosaurs get close, MODOK
releases sleeping gas and knocks them out. Ka-zar comes to try and
stop MODOK but he falls unconscious from the gas also. MODOK plans
to use the same technology that created him to advance the dinosaurs
to create a strikeforce. He throws Bruce and Ka-zar into the bowels
of the ship with the dinosaurs and Bruce overcomes the sedatives
and becomes the Hulk. Ka-zar tricks the Hulk into breaking his chains
and gets free also. They fight the dinosaurs and make it out of
the ship. The Hulk takes on MODOK and manages to defeat him.
The Incredible Hulk #287: Late one night at Project Nightfall,
MODOK breaks into the base, rending more of the staff unconscious.
MODOK finally arrives at the cryogenics core of the base to the
frozen body of the Abomination.
MODOK left General Ross awake because he knew that Ross's hatred
for the Hulk would make him perform treason and help MODOK free
the Abomination, which he does.
The Incredible Hulk #288: MODOK finishes thawing out the
frozen Abomination, as MODOK and General
Ross agree to help in each out, in regards to MODOK using the A
HREF="theabomination">Abomination to destroy the Hulk. MODOK and
General Ross were both surprised when the newly thawed Abomination
had a cowardly attitude after being beaten by the Hulk so many times.
MODOK knocks General Ross unconscious so that it wouldn't look like
he helped and then disappears with the Abomination.
Later, back at MODOK's lab, MODOK continually tortures the Abomination
until he finally gives in a fights the Hulk because he's scared
of MODOK more.
The Incredible Hulk #289: At the AIM base, MODOK is attacked
by his own scientists, who were sick of being ruled by the freakish
MODOK. MODOK was surprised and was managed to be driven off, planning
on his revenge. Meanwhile, the scared Abomination
fights the Hulk and manages to kidnap Kate
Waynesboro.
The Incredible Hulk #290: The Abomination
brings Kate
to create a new MODOK-like person who they can control. The Hulk
and MODOK break into the AIM stronghold but it was too late as the
AIM scientists had turned Kate into
Ms. MODOK. Ms. MODOK goes against her creators and decides to wed
MODOK, despite the Hulk's pleas. MODOK then started attacking the
Hulk and then disipates the Abomination
into atoms which shocks Ms. MODOK and she goes against MODOK. MODOK
gets upset that she would go against him so as he fights both the
HULK and Ms. MODOK, he pushed Ms. MODOK back into the equipment
that first changed her. MODOK then blows a hole in the wall and
escapes.
