The Hulk starts attacking the creatures that came out of the sand
when the Shadow Elders tell him to stop since the Devil Corkers
actually came to find him. One of the Elders addresses Caiera who
mentions she does not serve the emperor anymore. The Elder is worried
that she has broken the pact but Caiera tells them that the Emperor
has released the Spikes and doomed them all. Then Hiroim shows that
Elders that they have brought the Hulk, who the Elders recognize
from the legends. Suddenly, they are transported away.
They transport to inside a building where in the ground is the
starship that brought the Shadow people to the planet. One of the
Elders explains that they are far from their home but the planet
nurtured them so they serve the planet. They don't have much of
their old power left so they fired up the engines of their starship
and created the portal. It first brought the Death's Head guard
who were used to fight back the Spikes and later it brought other
people like the Silver Surfer and then the Hulk. The Hulk asks why
and they reply that the old stories tell how the Sakaarson will
come and unite the planet so that was how they were going to bring
that person to the planet. Hiroim says the the Sakaarson is in everyone,
not one particular person but since the Hulk is there, they have
to listen to him. The Elders says that first he must past a test
but the Hulk doesn't feel like it until an Elder asks if he is scared.
The Hulk is subjected to the ritual provocations of the Saka. At
first, the Hulk is subjected to scenes of him fighting against his
own warbound during his trials on the planet but the Huk is not
phased by it. But then more scenes show the members of the Illuminati
who sent him to the planet who tell the Hulk he will kill all of
his new friends because he is a monster and the Hulk lashes out
at them. The Elders reject the Hulk as the Sakaarson as his heart
is full of hate. Caiera says that it doesn't matter since the Hulk
can still help save the planet but the Elders say that he must go.
The Hulk doesn't care, he just walks over and rips the starship
out of the ground.
Elsewhere, Korg, Miek, and the Brood are trying to outrun the advancing
Spikes, who call out to Miek to join them. Korg looks up the sky
and sees the Red King's ships coming towards them. Korg picks up
a huge rock and hits one of the ships and is surprised to see them
fly over and towards another large ship which has the Hulk and Caiera
standing on the outside. The Hulk and Caiera smash the missles being
launched at then even though they could not hurt the stone ship
of the Shadow People. The Hulk is just having too much fun. Arch-E
is inside and finally figures out the ship and manages to depower
all the Emperor's ships which crash to the ground.
Back at Crown City, the Red King is busily being suited up in his
advanced armor. The stone ship comes and powers down the city. The
Hulk and his Warbound step outside of the ship and Miek is anxious
to go attack the city. The Hulk says they have another job to do
first. He grabs one of the missles and wlaks through the fire that
is keeping back the Spikes. Korg, Caiera, Miek, and the Brood follow
behind him. His Warbound are surprised when the Hulk tells them
that they are not going to fight the Spikes and the Spikes just
let them walk through. The Brood tells the Hulk that they are calling
for him inside the ship and they walk in to find big Spikes with
some armor on them.
On the other side of the fire, Elloe is worried that the fire will
die and the Spikes will attach again but Hiroim just says they wait
for the Hulk. Elloe walks away angry and one of the rebels comes
up and says that people are saying that they want her to be the
next queen. They convince her to attack the city when suddenly the
Red King appears as the whole thing was a set-up to get Elloe close
enough to kill her. The Red King asks if Elloe would prefer incineration
or decapitation when suddenly the Hulk appears with the Warbound
and the new allies the large Spikes.
