Synopsis: Ripley and Gwen run into General Ross on the island while running away. Gwen suddenly thinks Ross looks familiar but Ross stresses that she has never met him before and saw him on tv. Ross offers to take them to a spot on the island safe from the monsters. Flashbacks show Bruce's Aunt Susan Drake getting the mail and seeing a letter to Bruce from his father Brian at the psychiatric institute. She crumbles up the letter and wonders out loud why he won't leave Bruce alone. Bruce, meanwhile, is at school, with the imaginary Hulk talking to him, telling him all the kids at the high school are laughing at him. Bruce ignores Hulk and goes to ask Carla is she is okay. Carla asks that Bruce not do this and Bruce is confused. Back on the island, the Hulk finds himself standing in front of Fin Fang Foom. Foom says that the island is a staging area for an invasion and that the Hulk should kneel in front of him. The Hulk gives a smart comment and Foom breathes fire on him but the Hulk just brushes it off. Foom is impressed and tells the Hulk that if he agrees to serve Foom, he will be spared. The Hulk grabs Foom's tongue and proceeds to beat him in the face. With the Hulk still holding onto his tongue, Foom flies into the air. Flashback to Carlo yelling at Bruce that she doesn't like him and that she thinks he is just as much of a freak as everyone else at school. She tells him to just stay away. The Hulk says to Bruce "Smash them all" and Bruce agrees. Ross tells Ripley and Gwen about Project:SMASH (Synthetic Mirage Artificial Scenario Hallucinations) which takes images from peoples minds and gives them form and substance. It would be used to confuse and terrify the enemy during wartime. Ross says that the program head, Professor Stephen Yarish, will them them more. Ripley and Gwen explain to Ross how they were singers on a yacht that blew up and that is how they came to be on the island. They get to the small base when suddenly a three headed dog leaps out and drags Ross away. Professor Yarish comes out and says the project is out of control and to get inside where it is safe. Ripley grabs Ross's gun, which fell to the ground, and runs to save Ross. Foom flies Hulk towards a volcano and starts to say how the people on the island think they are part of a military scheme but that he is really in control. The Hulk says that he does not care and beats Foom until he falls into the volcano. The Hulk lands on the ground and turns back into Bruce to try and figure out what was going on at the island and to help Ripley and Gwen. Unbeknownst to him, Wolverine is standing in the shadows.
