A group of rebels hid in a cave talking about how the Red King has gotten out of control with his demands. On asks if they should try to form an alliance with the bugs but another says it didn't work before. Still another talks about how the Red King entered the arena and was slashed by a rebel and he holds up a picture of the Hulk. The others can't believe the King was actually hurt with his armor on. They figure this creature who hurt the King has the strength and will power to help them.

Back at the maw, a robot is fighting a creature that lives in the lava and is about to get killed when the Hulk comes up and saves him, getting burned by the lava in the process. The robot thanks the Hulk who says he didn't do it for the robot, he just likes to fight. The emperor soldiers arrive then and tell everyone to kneel but the Hulk refuses. The lead solider, Primus Vand, tells the Hulk again and raises his staff which causes the object on the Hulk's chest to hurt him. The robot tells the Hulk he has an Obediance Disk on which will cause him pain unless he stops fighting it. Vand tells how he was unbeaten for four seasons in the arena and was granted freedom by the King and they could do the same thing but first they must maek it through the Maw. Primus gathers the group of 22 captives and tells them that only 7 will make it out alive. One of the pink skinned person's steps up and says that he is an elected representative in the Community Congress and demands a trial. Before he can finish his sentence, Primus vaporizes him. Everyone starts to pick up weapons laying on the ground and Miek tries to get the Hulk to stay by him in the fight and then notices there are only sixteen. The Hulk tells him to shut up and everyone charges each other. A creature made of stone tries to talk to the Hulk and says that they can work together but it is obvious the Hulk just wants to fight. Miek is on the ground and is about to get killed by a pink skinned person when suddenly two spikes come through that person's chest. Five brood have joined the fight. Miek thanks the Hulk for saving him but the Hulk says that he has no friends but Miek says that he doesn't mean it but the stoneman replies he does mean it and that is why he will die. Primus Vand suddenly calls the fighting over and says that the seven remaining are now a team and to have a good night sleep as tomorrow gets worse.

The seven sit in a cell together when Miek shocks himself when he tries to take the obediance disk off. The Brood mocks Miek and the two of them argue with each other until the Brood tries to attack Miek. Just then, Korg reaches out and stops the Brood. He tells them that he could easily kill them but they all have to be alive if they want to survive tomorrow and that they should tell everyone their name and skills. Miek annouces that he is skills include fighting, stealing, hiding, and skulking. Brood says that she has no name and that they have seen what she can do. Hiriom sits in a corner, meditating so one of the pink-skinned natives says tells that he is an unbound Shadow and he is in silent prayer but will fight when the time comes. Captain Skee says that he is formerly of hte Imperial Guard and his employer was the man who was killed by the trainer. The female pink-skinned native says that her name is elloe and that the man killed was her father and she doesn't know anything about fighting, but she can learn. The Hulk finally speaks up and says that it is fine that they fight as a team but what happens wehn it's time to kill each other. Korg says that until that day comes, they are friends. The Hulk tells them to wake him up when it is time to fight.

The next day, they are back in the field, standing in front of lava as something starts to come out. Korg tells the Hulk they will double team but then he notices the creatures coming out of lava are his dead friends which throws him off. The Hulk starts to fight them and actually grabs Korg and uses him to destroy one of the creatures. Once he comes to his senses, Korg stands with the Hulk. Up in the rocks, the rebels spy on the Hulk wondering if he is the one. Later, all seven are standing together in armor and weapons as Primus announces that they are now gladiators. Korg is still working through the fact that he had to destroy his friends and brothers. Miek asks the Hulk if everyone from his planet is as strong as he is and he tells Miek that there is no one like him, just puny humans. The Brood says that humans are not as weak as the Hulk tells it but with their heroes and machines, they can overcome odds. The Hulk mumbles that their machines and heroes won't save them.

The gladiators are taken to a farm on the outskirts of the city as an Imperial Pleasure-cruiser comes to watch the battle. The gladiators come face to face with a pack of deadly Wildebots who have killed a number of farmers and soldiers. Korg grabs the Hulk and throws him right at the pack to start the fight and they easily destory the robots and everyone on the planet is watching it happen, including the Red King. The gladiators are treated to a banquet where Skee is chosen by some women. The Red King's Lieutenant stares down the Hulk from behind some drapes. Back at the palace, the Red King discusses business in which he usually has someone killed if he doesn't get his way and also mentions the Spikes, which startles his assisstant. The Lieutenant talks to the Red King over a transmission and says that the Hulk is alive and the one who destoryed the Wildebots and that people are talking. Suddenly there is an explosion, as the rebels have attacked the ask the Hulk if they will fight for them.
