Origin: Joe Timms was an escaped convict who drowned in swampy water while trying to outrun the prison guards. Years later, a barrel of radioactive waster brought him back to life as the Glob./Sumner Beckwith, a scientist, tries to recreate the super-soldier formula that Ted Sallis(the Man-Thing) was working on. He tries the experimental formula on himself and changes into the new Glob.

GREAT MOMENTS IN HISTORY

The Incredible Hulk #121: The Hulk is walking through a swampy area and comes across a storage cabin full of barrels of radioactive waste. He throws one into a swamp which leaks and causes the Glob to be born. The Glob walks to the local military base and remembers back to a time when a man was in prison. The man received a letter from the only woman he loved saying that she was dying. He was denied a release to see her so he escaped into the bogs. He was chased and eventually walked into a spot of the swamp where he was pulled down into it. The Glob walks onto the base and finds the house with Betty in it and confusing Betty with his lost love, he kidnaps her. The Hulk sees him and tries to stop him. The two fight and the Glob manages to beat down the Hulk. The Glob grabs Betty and starts to walk into the radioactive part of the swamp where he was born. The swamp starts to dissolve him and the Glob holds Betty above his head. The Hulk climbs on a tree and manages to grab Betty just in time as the Glob dissolves away.

The Incredible Hulk #129: The Leader changes himself into his human form and tricks Bruce into telling him who some of his greatest foes where which include the Glob. The Leader goes and submits the radioactive swamp water to radiation and recreates the Glob. The Leader implants an image into the Globs mind of the Hulk hurting the woman he cares about. The Leader also gives the Glob the ability to find the Hulk no matter where he is. Later, Bruce is riding a raft through a sewer when the Glob catches up with him. Bruce changes into the Hulk and fights the Glob. The Hulk gets frustrated since his blows don't hurt the Glob. Even fire doesn't stop the Glob. They fight long and hard and the Hulk eventually climbs an electrical tower followed by the Glob. The Hulk grabs a live wire and shocks the Glob who falls and lands on a dynamo, exploding. The last scene shows bits and pieces of the Glob slowly starting to move towards another, reforming.

Giant-Size Man-Thing #1: In the swamps of the Everglades, an Entropy Cult holds the brain of the former Glob in a globe. The Man-Thing senses that the brain holds evil, so he tries to destroy it. The cult uses the brain and brings to life an electrical manifistation of the former Glob. This electric Glob fights the Man-Thing until the Man-Thing causes the Glob to short circuit. The brain explodes in the glboe and drops into quicksand. The brain thinks back to his former life as Joe Timms and as the Glob and decides it wants a body again. The brain jumps out of the quicksand and forms a body out of clay. The energy it took to form the body robs the brain of its memories and he walks off into the swamp. He is found by some scientists and other people setting up an experimental ecological community within the swamp and taken in. The leader of the Entropy cult explains to the other members how he found the brain after the fight with the Hulk and kept it alive by imbedding it with a part of himself. The cult leader tracks down the man formerly as the Glob, takes control of his mind and de-evolves him into a mud-clay like version of the Glob. He orders the new Glob to destroy the community. The Man-Thing comes and the two creatures fight. The Man-Thing eventually rips the Glob apart from the inside leaving a mud puddle on the ground. The leader of the cult rushes over to the pile and commands the Glob to come back alive. The clay starts to move and encompasses the leader totally, killing him.

The Incredible Hulk #198: The Hulk is going through the Everglades and stumbles across the ecological society experiments and the dead body of the Entropy Cult leader. The Hulk lays down and falls asleep and reverts back to Bruce. Bruce wakes up and finds a blond man watching him and chases him down. The man can't talk and Bruce explains that he is a friend. Bruce and the man are attacked by pirates and forces Bruce to turn into the Hulk. The Hulk defeats the pirates and then the Collector appears, causing fear in the blond-haired man. The Collector presents the Man-Thing, who he has taken control of, and sends him against the Hulk. While the two are fighting, the Collector hits the man with a ray from his staff and turns him back into the Glob. He explains how he found the golden brain at the community. He commands the Glob to join the fight and the combined forces of the Man-Thing and Glob are too much for the Hulk to take and he is knocked unconscious.

The Incredible Hulk #199: The Collector takes the unconscious Hulk and puts him in the Everglades exhibit on his ship along with the Man-Thing and Glob. The Hulk reverts back to Bruce and he easily takes off the shackle on his leg and leaves the exhibit to explore the ship. The Man-Thing and Glob rip off the shackle with no problem since their bodies have no substance and they leave the exhibit also. The Hulk fights the Collector and his army but defeats them and breaks the equipment holding all the other exhibits captive. While everybody is escaping, including the Hulk, the Glob goes to take revenge on the Collector.

The Incredible Hulk #389: The Hulk and Rick Jones go looking in the Everglade swamp lands for a missing Pantheon scientist, Sumner Beckwith, who was working on a cancer cure and then disappeared. Rick goes in one direction and saves a girl from the Man-Thing. The Hulk stumbles across a shack which contains Beckwith's diary explaing how he was trying to recreate Ted Sallis's super soldier formula. In the diary, he tells how he tested the serum on himself and that something went wrong and changed him. Two other teenagers run across the Glob and he kills them. Rick and the girl he saved run into more of her friends who knock Rick out and tie him to a try to lure the swamp monster out. The Glob comes and starts to kill Rick when the Man-Thing saves him. Then the Hulk appears and fights the Glob and starts to defeat him. The Glob gets scared which causes the Man-Thing to touch him and burn him into nothing.
